Atelier Noix has a few kits currently available at HLJ. A "mono" Tiger Moth was done as a white metal kit in 1-48 by LDM or something like that - sorry I am not sure about the companies name. But long out of production AFAIK.
I only do racers in 1-48 scale which means I have no Gee Bee Z, no Bulldog, no Wedell Williams and no Laird Turner - what a pity. I would also love a decent Mc72. Not to forget some Unlimited Racers as Blind Mans Buff and Czech Mate. But frankly I am tempted to buy almost any Racer which is released in "my scale" as long as I can somehow afford it.

Has anyone ever built the Smer M.C.72 kit?

www.scalemates.com/products/product.php?id=102527

It says "1/48" on the box, but it's actually 1:50? (not that that's going to make much difference).

I started the MC 72. Lousy fit and poor detail but it is the only game in town - if you do not count the Noix kit (which will be extremely difficult to get - if anyone has it please let me know). I have not compared it to any plans but I also heared it is 1/50 scale - so it is 4% smaller than in it would be in 1-48 which means the span would be just under 1 cm short (assuming the dimensions are correct for 1-50).
If you like can take some pictures of the parts tonight.

Edit: I took some pictures and will do a simple review in the according section of this forum. Shouldn't be difficult to find ;-)

Cool. Thanks. I was just curious. My collection is 1:72, but someday I might do it all over again in 1:48.

I did know about the NOIX kits, but there were so few made, I don't hold much hope for obtaining one at a reasonable price (there's a price-point where scratch-built starts to look attractive!)

There were several Italian Schneider racers 1:72 and 1:48 made by a company called Vintage. I've got their 1:48 MC.72 complete with copper plated radiators.

Still not cheap but a lot cheaper then the NOIX kits.

ah, thanks! I did see one of the Vintage kits turn up on ebay recently. For the 1:72 versions, I've thought about scratch-building, using some of the parts from the Eastern Express S.6B, which is fairly available.
